Francis Chan: We Are Church - Church Together, March 2016

March 27, 2016

Sermon Summary

**Harmony with Heaven**

In the grand tapestry of existence, there are two distinct songs being sung: one by the world, and another by heaven. The world sings a song of self-promotion, individual rights, and rebellion against God's authority. In contrast, heaven resonates with the harmonious praise of Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain for humanity's redemption.

**The Heavenly Song**

In Revelation 5:6-14, we catch a glimpse of the heavenly choir, comprising a hundred million angels, four living creatures, and twenty-four elders. They sing in perfect harmony, proclaiming Jesus' worthiness to receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing. Their song is not about their own achievements or desires but about Jesus' sacrifice and His rightful place as the King of Kings.

**The Choice Before Us**

We are faced with a choice: to sing in harmony with heaven or to join the world's cacophonous symphony. Jesus warns us that if we try to serve two masters, we will be hated by both (John 15:18-21). The Bible teaches that friendship with the world is enmity with God (James 4:4), and we cannot have a divided heart.

**The Cost of Harmony**

To join heaven's chorus, we must submit to Jesus' lordship and turn away from sin. This may mean standing out in a world that values self-promotion and individualism. We will be hated by those who do not know God (John 15:18-21), but we will be loved by the One who has chosen us out of the world.

**The Invitation**

Francis' message is clear: don't make this about yourself; join heaven's chorus in singing Jesus' praises. Set your mind on things above, where Christ is exalted (Colossians 3:2). Fall in line with heaven's song, and you will be hated by the world, but loved by God.

**The Call to Action**

As we reflect on our lives, ask yourself:

* Am I singing the song of the world or the song of heaven?

* Do I prioritize self-promotion or Jesus' glory?

* Am I willing to stand out in a crowd that values individualism?

Choose harmony with heaven. Join the chorus of angels, living creatures, and elders who sing Jesus' praises. Together, let us proclaim His worthiness and exalt Him as our Lord and Savior.
